My name is Steve Schwartz. I’m a professional writer, as well as an avid angler, hunter, and cook. I started Field & Food as a place for me to jot down thoughts on hunting, fishing, eating wild game because I think it's one of the most productive things we can do with our time on this planet. When I don't feel like being productive, I like long, boring movies and ‘90s indie rock. Thanks for checking out my site!

Why Field & Food?

I didn’t grow up hunting. I never had a mentor or access to private land. So, when I did decide to take on the sporting life for both fun and food, it was tough going. It still is. I decided to start this blog so I can share what I’ve learned and am learning along the way, to help others who’d like to live a more fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle, but aren’t sure where to start. 

I’ll do my best to post a new article every week, whether it’s about hunting squirrels in the woods, interviewing someone who actually knows what they’re talking about, or chasing trout in a remote alpine lake. Maybe I’ll throw a book review or two in, who knows. Either way, I hope you find some of these articles helpful and entertaining because that’s the whole point.
